The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred.

NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR), for the offshore renewables industry. This includes the regulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, and environmental management for offshore renewable energy infrastructure activities.

We are seeking an experienced dynamic Senior Adviser - Legislative Change to join the Strategic Communications and Engagement Directorate in our Perth Office.

About The Role:

NOPSEMA is looking for a dynamic high performing Senior Adviser – Legislative Change, to work in an established team to provide advice and guidance on policy, regulatory and legislative matters to support and lead an array of work and regulatory outcomes of NOPSEMA.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Adviser - Legislative Change , r eporting to the Assistant Director, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, you will be responsible for:

  • Contributing towards facilitating engagement, liaison and negotiation in support of regulatory priorities, legislative reform, and operational needs;
  • Engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders in government and to pursue opportunities for legislative and regulatory reform;
  • Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders in support of NOPSEMA’s regulatory work and objectives;
  • Under the guidance of the Assistant Director, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, supporting other Assistant Directors and Senior Advisors within the Strategic Communications and Engagement Directorate with duties, tasks, and projects as required; and
  • Complying with NOPSEMA’s business policies and processes, including financial, communication, information and human resources practices, and the Australian Public Service Values, Code of Conduct and Employment Principles.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide advice and support to identify policy options and develop legislative change proposals.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with government and other internal and external stakeholders in support of organisational objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, work collegiately within and across teams internally, engage external stakeholders, and disseminate/communicate information.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in government, law, public administration, public policy, or related disciplines.
