POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Security Operations Manager role is a permanent opportunity that offers a unique chance to shape and enhance the security landscape of a leading organization. As the IT Security Operations Manager, you will support the National Security and Risk Manager in overseeing and managing the daily operations of security activities within the organization. This position involves executing security procedures for the client's information systems and managing processes to ensure compliance and enhance security capabilities. You will need to be a strong, proven, and committed professional who knows how to align organizational objectives with key projects and deliverables.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Information Security
- Perform daily operations including monitoring, incident response, vulnerability lifecycle management, and investigations to ensure smooth and effective operations. Be hands-on as needed.
- Collaborate with the organization across various projects to ensure ongoing security governance and compliance.
- Monitor threat intelligence and security advisories, preparing recommendations for the organization on potential exposures and courses of action.
- Engage external parties to conduct various security compliance tests across the client’s systems, networks, and cloud services.
- Manage third-party security service providers to enhance the firm’s security posture.
- Lead the team in detecting, investigating, and responding to security incidents. Coordinate and participate in incident response plans, providing guidance and minimizing the impact of security breaches.
- Improve and maintain the client’s disaster recovery and incident response plans.
- Ensure regular testing of disaster recovery and incident response plans to assess readiness.
- Maintain threat mapping, playbooks, and build threat intelligence sources.
- Perform detailed investigations, including threat hunting and intrusion analysis, ensuring SLA performance is met and delivered.
- Lead in the development of improvements, such as automation, to gain efficiencies, reduce errors, and increase the capacity of the security team.
- Proactively identify and contribute to areas for continuous improvement.
- Contribute to a positive team environment and build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
- Self-motivated and outcome-oriented, this is a must for the role.
- Experienced in building strong relationships with C - level internal stakeholders
- Strong team player at all levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate meaningfully with other teams.
- Agile learning ability and mental flexibility.
- Analytical and critical thinking abilities under high-risk situations.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
- A tertiary qualification or equivalent IT certificate, or relevant work experience.
- Experience with incident response issues in a medium to large corporate environment.
- Strong understanding of relevant security standards, such as ISO27001 and ACSC 8, and aspects of the Australian Privacy Act.
