Principal Consultant / Senior Town Planner - Shape the Future of Western Australia

We are seeking a dedicated Principal Consultant to lead our Urban/ Regional Planning department in Western Australia and contribute to our vision for a vibrant, resilient and sustainable future.
About the Role:
As a Principal Consultant (Planning), you will drive the growth of Trace Enterprises, generation of new planning clients/ leads and work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team, stakeholders, and local communities to deliver strategic, innovative, and sustainable planning outcomes. This position is an exceptional opportunity to leave a lasting legacy on the Western Australian landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
With a focus on diverse projects across the commercial, residential, industrial, and community sectors, your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Lead generation and client relationship management.
- Developing professional relationships and liaise with various stakeholders including government bodies, developers, and community groups.
- Management of assigned department budgets.
- Developing growth strategies in collaboration with Trace Enterprises senior management team.
- Overseeing and managing complex town planning projects from inception to completion.
- Undertaking a high level of planning research, interpretation, and report
writing. - Providing expert advice on local and state planning policies and regulations.
- Preparing and presenting a range of documents including planning reports, site appraisals, development applications and other planning application
documentation to clients, stakeholders, and at public meetings. - Working across a wide range of applications to contribute to proposals,
tenders, and submissions for potential projects. - Working closely with our Heritage and Environmental teams on tender
documents and projects.
About You:
You are a seasoned professional with a minimum of 3 years experience in town planning within the Western Australian planning consulting industry. You are driven to grow the department and generate new leads. You possess a deep understanding of Western Australian planning regulations, policies, and procedures. Your excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills enable you to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in urban and regional planning, geography or similar.
- Minimum 3 years experience as a planning consultant in Western Australia.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and passion to network and generate new client leads.
- An ability to research, problem-solve and think laterally.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- An understanding of planning principles and the ability to apply them.
- The ability to apply relevant statutory planning legislation to the projects.
