The Senior IAM Engineer – Cyber will support the delivery of the University’s Cyber Security Enablement Program (the Program), a multi-year initiative designed to materially reduce the University’s exposure to cyber security risk through the implementation of technology and business changes. The primary purpose of the Senior IAM Engineer – Cyber role is the development and delivery of technical and business processes associated with Program initiatives and support for operationalisation of the services. 

Accountabilities include:

  • Analysis of business objectives and requirements. Works closely with ICT technical/development teams or vendors to ensure that captured business requirements are effectively translated into the functional specifications document so that an optimal solution can be delivered to the business.
  • Investigation of operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and/or process change.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy custom and complex integration of IAM, PAM and SSO.
  • Lead the design, management, and optimisation of UNSW Identity Stores and Federated Services, including all AD, LDS, and Entra ID environments.
  • Lead the design, management, and optimisation of UNSW synchronisation services to Azure Active Directory (AAD Connect).
  • Provide technical input surrounding Identity to the Enterprise Identity Manager and technical guidance to other ICT areas regarding consumption of UNSW Identity.
  • Comply with all IT policies and procedures, and verify deliverables meet Information Security requirements.
  • Identification of improvement opportunities and potential solutions that contribute to ongoing process standardization, unification and optimization.
  • Identify tuning and optimisation opportunities in IAM platforms such as Entra ID, Active Directory, PAM and all UNSW identity stores.
  • Champion and assist with the continual refinement, execution, and management of the organisation’s identity store integration development model, development toolkit, standards, and key policies and procedures related to integration development.
  • Assist with troubleshooting activities related to IAM tools in conjunction with the application support team. Work closely with Cyber Security Operations and Identity Management, Infrastructure Operations and Vendors to implement Technical Solutions.
  • Build, develop and maintain excellent professional working relationships with the University stakeholders to develop trust and confidence in business process improvement initiatives.
  • Identifies stakeholders, conducts change impact assessments in collaboration with the Organizational Change Manager and Project Manager and builds a deep knowledge of the impact of the planned change on people in terms of the depth and scope of that change.
  • In collaboration with the Organizational Change Manager and Project Leads, implements plans for managing the change.
  • Managing time against multiple assigned project tasks.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health & safety of yourself or others

Your skills will include:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent minimum of 5 years of experience in an Enterprise Identity Management function or in a senior IT support role
  • Demonstrated knowledge (Hands on development preferred) of Software development using Microsoft Visual Studio .Net including VB.Net, C#.Net, HTML, XML, Web Services (SOAP/REST), Powershell scripting, SQL
  • Substantial business and technical experience in the following cyber security domains:
  • Identity Governance and Administration implementation
  • Single Sign On application onboarding and analysis
  • Privileged Access Management onboarding and analysis
  • User Access Review and recertification procedures
  • Enterprise-level knowledge of large-scale Entra ID, Active Directory environments including AAD Connect and synchronisation technologies.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Identity Governance and Administration capabilities.
  • Knowledge of advanced Active Directory Identity security (PAM; Zero-Standing Access; Tiered Administration Models; etc.).
  • Knowledge of Federated technologies – including, but not limited to: SAML 2.0; OAuth; OpenID Connect; WS-FED; App proxy, MFA, Relay-State; etc.
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio. Advanced knowledge with supporting tools, e.g. Jira, SharePoint and Confluence.
  • Comprehensive analytical and problem-solving skills and proven capacity to exercise initiative, flexibility and to be proactive in development of robust solutions to problems.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with contemporary security technologies and products.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle high demand situations with management and key stakeholders.
  • Experience in the University / Higher Education sector desirable.
