About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, driven individual to join our growing team as a Mechanical Leading Hand. 

As a leading hand Mechanic/Diesel Fitter, you will be responsible for servicing, repairs and maintenance of Light/Medium/Heavy Vehicles, mobile plant and equipment. Which includes but not limited to preventive maintenance, fault finding and diagnostics. Providing guidance and assistance as part of a team, to oversee all mechanical jobs and complete QA checks all completed work.

The successful candidates must have strong knowledge and experience over a range of vehicle, equipment and plant along with possessing a particular focus on driving safety, quality and efficiency. 

Role Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and manuals to maximise production.
• Ensure assigned trades work is completed safely and in accordance with quality requirements, company policy and all statutory requirements.
• Initiate/complete Work Orders, ensure timely sign off for completed job instructions, provide relevant diagnostic/feedback and reports as required.
• Liaise and organise all sub-contractor required work for fitting in conjunction with the manager
• Provide direction and support to workers to achieve set goals

About you

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong customer focus combined with initiative, enthusiasm, ambition, and a willingness to learn. 
To be considered for this you must have the following skills and experiences;

• Trade qualification in mechanical or diesel fitting
• Carry out diagnostic inspections and fault finding
• Team Leadership experience, able to provide supervision and assist with the coordination of the workshop team to achieve goals
• Ability to work autonomously or in a team environment.
• Multitasker in all areas
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent attention to detail, assisting with Quality checks on all works.
• Vehicle Loading Crane/Elevated Work Platform Experience highly regarded but not essential 
• Current C Class License
• Skills in a broad range of mechanical disciplines
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol screen
