Role Overview:

As a Project Tailings Engineer based in our Brisbane office, you will join an industry-recognised team whose mission is to be at the cutting edge of the work we do. Mining Our global team of over 5,200 dedicated mining professionals are supporting the industry to decarbonise mining operations in the accelerating green transition. Key Responsibilities:
  1. Travelling to site to oversee construction of tailings storage facility designs developed by our Mine Waste team
  2. Interpreting results from laboratory testing and preparing summary reports
  3. Developing a basis for defensible soil strength parameters, using laboratory and field results
  4. Undertaking screening level and detailed design analyses to support the design of tailings storage facilities and other earth structures, initially under close guidance from our senior specialists, but with a view to carrying out such work independently
  5. Developing designs for tailings storage facilities and other earth structures
  6. Managing the specification and implementing design changes while on site
  7. Assist with project planning and preparation of technical deliverables
  8. Assisting with the coordination of client-contractor requests
  9. Preparing and delivering technical reports on time
  10. Undertaking design assessments, including stability and seepage analyses
  11. Preparation of technical deliverables such as proposals and reports
  12. Working with and providing support to other members of the group as required
  13. Working with other professionals in project teams
  14. Conduct general field and office assignments under supervision
  15. Undertaking site and QA/QC activities
  16. Identify safety hazards and report OH&S incidents
  17. Complete inductions and pre-requisites as required
  18. Conduct all work to satisfy all company, client and government conditions, policies, procedures, regulations and standards, as required
  19. Other duties as required
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline

Basic analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Enthusiasm for fieldwork with practical experience

Ability to work efficiently autonomously and in a team environment

Good attention to detail and time management ability

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
