Senior Infrastructure Engineer

The opportunity

Our client is an Australian Federal Government organisation, who are currently looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join a large cyber security program of work, and assist with infrastructure and security architecture, design, project work, and hands-on support.

6-month initial contract, with excellent rates negotiable.

Melbourne CBD based role.

Must be an Australian Citizen with a security clearance of NV1 or higher.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will support the deployment of a number of infrastructure and cyber security outcomes as part of the Program delivery. You will fulfill a range of Solution Architecture and technical infrastructure engineering duties including:

  1. Provide infrastructure security architecture process that enables the enterprise to develop and implement security solutions and capabilities that are clearly aligned with business, technology, and threat drivers.
  2. Develop infrastructure security strategy and roadmaps based on sound enterprise architecture practices.
  3. Develop and maintain infrastructure security architecture artifacts (models, templates, standards, and procedures) that can be used to leverage security capabilities in projects and operations.
  4. Collaborate with the solutions architects to address IT infrastructure concerns during the development of infrastructure security architecture.
  5. Prepare specifications for procurement of IT infrastructure products and services and contribute to the evaluation of market responses in relation to infrastructure security architecture.
  6. Produce detailed component specifications and, if required, produce high-level designs for implementation.

Experience overseeing the implementation of E8 mitigation strategies would be desirable.

Technical duties required for this role would include:

  1. Supporting ongoing operational Cyber Security Management program of work.
  2. Hardware and Server Administration.
  3. AD, DFS, ADFS, AAD, DNS, DHCP.
  4. Level 3 reactive support- Incident/Service Request Management, Monitoring and Event Management.
  5. McAfee, Tenable, Splunk, and Secret Server are also highly desired to support an operational Cyber Security Management program of work.
  6. Scripting and programming are an advantage to the role.
  7. Work closely with other IT and business teams, including providing technical project work.
  8. Produce technical documentation.
About you

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Previous federal government experience, with a security clearance at NV1 or higher.
  • Extensive experience in infrastructure/security engineering.
  • Architecture experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills, and internal and external stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Broad technical skills covering hardware and server administration, monitoring/SIEM, infrastructure management, access/accounts control, incident response, etc.
