Our Federal Government is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join on an initial 12 month contract with view to extend.

Senior Data Analyst | 12 months, view to extend | Canberra, Brisbane or Sydney CBD / WFH Hybrid | Federal Government | AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance or higher security clearance required

The Role:

Part of the Digital Solutions Division - stewarding the national digital health ecosystem and products through analysis, data, architecture, standards, connections, service and user design.

The Senior Data Analyst provides credentialed data expertise and technical analysis support to innovate, build, and maintain well-managed data solutions and capabilities to solve business problems. This Senior Data Analyst takes ownership of the Agency’s data analytics. Their work will empower the project teams and guide business decisions.

This position also entails providing support in the creation of detailed analytical models by providing expert opinion related to the integration and processing of data relevant to the Agency supporting the data-driven decision-making process across the organisation.

The Senior Data Analyst will have to handle multiple simultaneous tasks, prioritise work, and remain functional under pressure, and short timelines.

Key Knowledge and Experience:

  • At least 5 years as a Data Analyst in a dynamic business environment.
  • Proficient in R, Python, SAS, SQL/PL SQL, and database management tools.
  • Skilled in using cloud-based tools, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for creating engaging reports.
  • Experienced with SQL Server Reporting Services, Salesforce, and Tableau for data visualisation.
  • Competent in Big Data tools like Hadoop, Pig, Hive, Apache Spark, MapReduce, and NoSQL.
  • Experience with processing unstructured data in XML/JSON.
  • Adept at report creation, modeling, and trend forecasting.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Passionate about research and deriving actionable business insights.
  • Skilled in statistical and econometric modeling, quantitative analysis, and technological data mining techniques.
