Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer the Head of Cyber Security is responsible for establishing and maintaining Vision Super's strategic enterprise-wide information and cyber security management program, with the purpose of protecting the organisation. This leader will develop and manage a security function focused on driving a holistic approach to corporate and member security, as well as ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory policies.

What will I be doing?

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the Cyber Security function in assisting Vision Super to meet compliance and cyber security requirements.
  • Lead the development and execution of a cyber security strategy.
  • Assist with the overall business technology planning, providing a current knowledge and future vision of security technology and systems.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring for the security team including performance management and development opportunities
  • Proactively stay abreast of and provide specialist advice on cyber security risks and threats.
  • Work across the business to facilitate risk assessment and risk management processes ensuring Cyber Security controls are effective in proportion to Vision Super's risk appetite.
  • Manage the security policy, standards, guidelines, audit plans and progress of actions to ensure an effective risk-based framework.
  • Oversight of the Security Operations Centre (SOC) and management of major security incidents.
  • Engage effectively and provide regularly guidance, metrics and reporting to senior stakeholders, including the Board and audit committees.
  • Provide Cyber Security expertise on projects and change initiatives.
  • Drive a high performance culture where engagement and alignment are lifted and sustained.
  • All other initiatives as determined by the CRO, CEO and the Board.

What are the applicable skills and experience?

We're looking for someone with:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a combination of cyber security, risk management, information security and IT roles.
  • Executive-level written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to create buy-in, pitched appropriately to take all parts of the employee community along the security journey.
  • Innovative thinking and leadership with an ability to lead and motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge and experience of the financial services industry and the legislative framework of the superannuation industry, e.g., Security of Critical Infrastructure Act and Privacy Act.
  • Experience leading an enterprise-wide security function, with the ability to adapt to the size of the enterprise as it grows and develops.
  • Ability to develop and maintain high quality interpersonal relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in cyber and information security to secure our assets against malicious threat actors.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with relevant frameworks and standards, e.g., CPS234, NIST Cyber Security Framework, Essential Eight and ISO 27001.
  • Direct experience of leading cyber security teams in financial services organisations.
  • Strong internal and external stakeholder management skills including the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
  • Experience in dealing with a Board and committees, quickly building trust and respect.
  • Member-centric focus.
  • An effective leader who demonstrates decision-making capability and commercially astute.
  • Education, qualifications and accreditation
  • Degree in cyber security, computer engineering, business administration or related field or equivalent senior experience.
  • Relevant cyber security and leadership certifications are highly desirable, e.g., Cyber Leadership Professional, CISA, CISM, CISSP and SABSA.
