HEAD OF TAX

Reporting to: Director
Positions reporting to this role: Potential to grow a dedicated tax team
Salary: Circa $200,000 + equity pathway available
Hours: Full Time; Normal office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm
Job Commences: Immediately

Company Overview:
The firm is a leading integrated advisory firm specializing in Accounting (60%) and Wealth Management (40%). The firm exclusively serves private businesses and has a strong presence in Sydney. The firm currently ranks within the BRW Top 50 Accounting firms.

The Role:
As the Head of Tax, you will play a pivotal role in leading all tax planning and strategy initiatives for their private business clients. This includes identifying, selling, and implementing tax strategies while maintaining a strong client-facing presence. You will be integral in driving revenue growth and expanding the tax advisory capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies that align with client objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance on tax structures, ensuring solutions are tailored and strategic.
  • Lead and mentor a growing team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management and stakeholders to execute strategic initiatives and achieve business goals.
  • Conduct in-depth research on tax issues, staying abreast of legislative changes and industry trends.
  • Drive efficiency and effectiveness within the tax department, optimizing processes and resources.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in tax advisory roles, ideally within a large mid-tier firm or similar environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement tax strategies that drive business outcomes.
  • Strong client management skills with a track record of building and maintaining relationships.
  • Deep understanding of tax structures and regulations applicable to private Australian companies.
  • Prior experience in managing or supervising a team of tax professionals is advantageous.
  • Master's degree in Taxation or equivalent qualification is beneficial but not required.
Additional Information:
  • The firm offers an equity pathway for this role, reflecting their commitment to talent retention and growth.
  • Candidates with a background in SMEs, trusts, property, and GST work are highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar leadership role, including team management and departmental growth, is desirable.
  • The position is based in Sydney.
