Job Description

Reporting to the Procurement Manager - Contracts, Melbourne Water are looking to appoint multiple Contract Managers to take ownership of contract management governnace across multiple categories and supplier contract arrangements..
The Contract Management team are accountable for the support and, when required, the delivery of contract management and supplier relationship management across the Melbourne Water contractual landscape. The role is responsible for the delivery and management of contracts including establishment of required supplier performance criteria that will optimise and maintain third party products and services in alignment with Melbourne Water's strategic, commercial, contractual, legal and financial expectations.

  • Manage and/or support key vendor relationships across Melbourne Water in line with contractual arrangements, to ensure optimal service delivery and for the best value for money.
  • Facilitates commercial vendor governance meetings, and maintain vendor relationship/performance management to maximise vendor and service performance outcomes.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in governing the day to day commercial management of contracts, providing strategic commercial guidance and advice to business stakeholders and other commercial teams across Melbourne Water.
  • Maintains strong collaborative relationships with internal contract owners and business stakeholders.
  • Responsible for developing and executing contract and vendor management plans.
  • Responsible as a contract escalation point for the resolution of contractual and commercial disputes.
  • Provide support and guidance to business activities related to existing contracts including review of associated Statements of Work and commercial contractual advice.
  • Responsible for developing and facilitating contract variations and renewals to existing contracts in collaboration with applicable Category Managers and business stakeholders in line with applicable policies and legislation.
  • Provide guidance and input to new contracts as part of the Procurement lifecycle and sourcing delivery function.
  • Assist in the development of governance frameworks to support the overall contractual outcomes across Melbourne Water.
  • Support the Procurement Manager - Contracts as required.

The Successful Applicant

  • Tertiary qualifications in commercial management and/or relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in a commercial or public sector environment, related to vendor management.
  • Demonstrated communication skills across senior stakeholders and vendor environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving strategic outcomes and collaboration with peers and management.
  • Proactive approach to stakeholder engagement and development of collaborative working relationships.
  • Proven ability to guide and influence senior stakeholders across the business irrespective of role and responsibility.
  • extensive experience of working, fostering, embedding and growing a continuous value delivery and contract management improvement.
  • Extensive experience managing large value and complex contracts (experience in construction related contracts is desireable).
