Activity-Based Costing Manager

The Activity-Based Costing Manager is responsible for providing senior executives with streamlined and tailored strategic business advice across all aspects of financial and performance management, to assist in supporting their respective business group. This role is situated in a dynamic environment providing a variety of services to management and senior executives.
The role includes:
- Responsibility for all aspects relating to IP Australia's activity-based costing system. This includes maintaining cost drivers for all business groups, including organisational and business process/structural changes and ongoing business as usual activity
- Providing expert financial advice to the Director for Revenue and Cost Analysis and when required, the Chief Financial Officer and senior executives on financial reporting, costings and cost methodology, cost recovery against activities, and financial planning
- Supporting the section by working collaboratively with team members and identifying opportunities for improved work practices and reporting capabilities, as well as solutions for their implementation
- Demonstrating attitudes and behaviours responsive to workplace change (includes participating in, and encourages others to participate in, change and contribute to successful outcomes)
- Improving organisational performance through effective engagement with and management of risk within the relevant sphere of influence
- Contribute and conduct analysis across financial and performance metrics to drive improved performance, accountability and to identify workforce and business challenges as they arise across business groups
- Maintain professional working relationships and collaborate with stakeholders across business groups and with colleagues in FPSG that promote the collaborative exchange of financial and business information
- Participate in organisational initiatives and projects as required.
The key duties of the position include
- Integrate new activity-based costing software into IP Australia's financial planning, reporting and accountability framework, including configuring and maintaining a new activity-based costing model for IP Australia. This activity also includes developing, maintaining, and improving cost drivers for all business groups
- Responsibility for internal monthly activity-based costing reporting and analysis for senior executives and to provide costing data as required that reports the product and services costs, including activity costs
- Develop dashboards, reports and analysis that use activity-based cost allocations to highlight where efficient/inefficient costs contribute to the cost of IP Australia's good and services
- Contribute to the development of the annual Portfolio Budget Statements, Additional Estimates Statements, and end of year Annual Report financial analysis to comply with Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act reporting obligations
- Contribute to fee reviews and provide updates against the Cost Recovery Implementation Statement (CRIS) as required
- Proactively conduct strategic analysis and write briefs/minutes to guide senior executive decision making for improved organisational performance
- Be flexible and adapt to changing priorities, and resilient and engaged when asked to adopt new practices
- Establish clear expectations and creates an environment to achieve stated goals and objectives, takes ownership and honours commitments
- Maintain an understanding of their/worker responsibilities under the Work Health & Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) and a commitment to promoting a healthy and safe workplace.
