It is an exciting time for Tennis in Australia and we have ambitious plans to continue to grow the game from grassroots through to high performance. We are transforming how we deliver tennis, with the aim of making it more accessible, to more people, more often. We are looking for a Tennis Development Officer to join our team at Tennis Queenslandon a 6-9 month contract. This role will be responsible for the North Queensland region.

About the role

Reporting to the Field Manager the role of Tennis Development Officer - North is responsible for driving growth in tennis participation by supporting stakeholders and affiliates in the outstanding delivery of playing opportunities in the North Queensland region. The role will ultimately support the implementation of the national, state, and regional tennis plans and play an integral role in building sustainable pathways for club-based tennis.

In this role you will:

  • Assist in delivering the Queensland Tennis Facilities Plan - specifically in relation to court maintenance and accessibility.
  • Support clubs to attract government funding for maintenance and upgrading of tennis assets.
  • Support the local plan for tennis to inspire, connect and retain tennis players in the region.
  • Develop positive relationships with club and association personnel within the region to influence, adopt and drive change.
  • Support and train volunteers to use participation and registration systems endorsed by Tennis Queensland.
  • Educate and support clubs to create marketing materials and utilise digital platforms.
  • Develop strong working relationship with the respective Local Government Agencies.
  • Undertake regular travel to service allocated portfolio of clubs.
  • Planning and organising for the North region's participation in representative team's events, including travel and assisting in coach and manager selections

About you

What you will bring to the role

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work with a wide variety of people - such as clubs and committees, volunteers, coaches, players, parents, schools, competition providers, local government and industry bodies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of sports administration, governance, ideally through volunteer experience in club or association level community sport.
  • Ability to take initiative, work creatively, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A current driver's licence and first aid certificate.
  • Alignment with the Tennis values of Excellence, Humility, Collaboration and Imagination.
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
