Bowen Rail Company is growing it’s Integrated Planning team and we are seeking a Capacity & Performance Analyst to join our team in Rockhampton. In this position you will be responsible for analysing capacity needs, forecasting demand, optimising resource allocation, and integrating rail operations and maintenance.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Operate various modelling tools to assess the current capacity of the supply chain including track, yards, and other infrastructure, rollingstock and operations to understand limitations and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop demand forecasts based on feedback from Customers and Stakeholders to inform capacity planning decisions.
  • Develop plans to efficiently allocate resources such as rollingstock, track, and workforce to meet demand while minimizing costs and maximising utilisation
  • Prepare presentations and reports for Management based on outputs of various modelling scenarios. 
  • Create capacity plans that include the development of train schedules, maintenance activities, and other operations to ensure smooth and efficient transportation of coal. This requires coordination with various stakeholders including mines and ports and the appropriate rail networks.
  • Use performance reporting on tonnages, turnaround times, loading, unloading, asset utilisation, reliability, and performance to plan to identify areas for improvement and determine corrective actions.
  • Implement strategies to optimise the capacity of the supply chain such as improving asset utilisation, optimising train schedules, and investing in infrastructure upgrades where necessary.
  • Identify potential risks to the supply chain such as misalignment of maintenance, equipment failures, weather events, and labour disruptions, and develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and initiatives to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the supply chain. This may involve new technologies, streamlining processes, and adopting industry best practices.

Should you ASPIRE to join our team, you will bring: 

  • Previous 5+ years’ in similar position. 
  • Computer proficient (Advanced Microsoft Office, Systems).
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and professional presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated technical experience with a train modelling/planning/scheduling system such as Planimate / RACE/ViziRail or equivalent. 
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to commute across Bowen Rail Company site locations to support operational requirements.
