About this opportunity:
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and continuous improvement of all equipment and systems within the facility. This role involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. The Maintenance Engineer will work closely with operations and other departments to support production and ensure safe and efficient operations. The role will need to demonstrate accountability for the efficient running of plant machinery, whilst promoting a supportive and collaborative high-performing team.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
  1. Lead and manage a team of site maintenance staff
  2. Develop (in conjunction with the Reliability Engineer) and implement planned, preventive and predictive maintenance programs managing breakdowns of mechanical and electrical equipment
  3. Manage critical spare parts planning and inventory
  4. Implement a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) to optimize maintenance and spare parts management
  5. Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of equipment and systems
  6. Utilize condition monitoring techniques to anticipate and prevent equipment failures
  7. Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and failures
  8. Perform repairs and replace defective components as needed
  9. Collaborate with other team members to resolve complex issues
  10. Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems
  11. Implement upgrades and modifications to improve equipment performance and reliability
  12. Plan, manage and execute engineering projects to improve plant capacity and performance
  13. Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards during installations and upgrades
  14. Manage maintenance contractors, holding them accountable for safety, costs, and delivering a high standard of work
  15. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies
  16. Strong focus on GMP, HACCP, and food safety and quality compliance and requirements
  17. Identify, implement and manage continuous improvement opportunities by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices, processes and equipment
Your skills and experience:

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  1. Extensive experience in pneumatics, hydraulics and PLC
  2. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  3. A hands-on approach, strong problem-solving skills and the ability work autonomously
  4. A commitment to maintaining a high standard of excellence in health and safety
  5. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair techniques
  6. Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  9. Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., CMMS, CAD)

Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance engineering within manufacturing or industrial environment preferred. Experience with maintenance management systems and software. Experience with TPM, and LEAN. Extensive experience in fast-paced high-volume production within FMCG environment. Tertiary Engineering Qualifications – Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
