As our new Senior HV Electrical Secondary Design Engineer based in Brisbane , you'll play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that 'bring ideas to life' for our clients.

Working within a friendly multi-disciplinary team of professionals based in Brisbane on a wide variety of projects in our Power Transmission and Distribution team , getting exposure to varied and challenging projects locally in QLD and across Australia.

Your role will include the following:

  • Conduct, lead, review and verify detail designs and technical reports for the client for substation secondary systems.

  • Lead and deliver the concept to detailed d esign of HV substation s econdary systems.

  • Secondary systems design – produce SLDs, substation layouts, equipment/materials lists, clearance checks, and short circuit force calculations.

  • Understand the critical technical aspects of projects, implementation, and integration for complex systems.

  • Key areas of focus include transmission and distribution substations' secondary systems electrical design, encompassing protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, protection and control room layout.

  • Mentor, l ead & manage a team of engineers & designers

  • Undertake site inspections and associated reporting.

  • Ability to manage mid-sized projects or parts of larger projects independently.

  • Liaise with clients and contractors in relation to project objectives and targets on technical issues and problem resolution.

What are we looking for from you?

  • University degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering (or equivalent ) .

  • 5-10 years experience in substation secondary systems design .

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including effective influencing, motivation, and delegation skills.

  • Ability to work well with others to deliver as a team.

  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Inquisitive nature and desire to grow your career.

  • RPEQ is essential

  • Knowledge of the transmission and distribution industry, standards, and codes in Australia and/or design experience with Australian electrical utilities

  • Strong electrical design skills; in particularly secondary systems and substations

  • Proficiency in offering solutions to technical challenges. 

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including effective influencing, motivation, and delegation skills.

  • Ability to work well with others to deliver as a team.

  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Inquisitive nature and desire to grow your career.

  • RPEQ (or ability to obtain RPEQ) is essentia l .
