Cognizant is looking for a collaborative team of data scientists, data analysts, simulation specialists, and engineers to analyse the end-to-end value chain of our client’s assets. We're seeking a Data Scientist for a full-time position in Brisbane, and the role comes with an attractive salary and benefits package.

As a Data Scientist, you will be part of a global team identifying and delivering performance improvement projects through the application of cutting-edge analytics, operational and engineering expertise. You will join the Value Analytics team, working collaboratively alongside other value engineering specialists, simulation and data analytics professionals, and operations and business subject matter experts to address client’s biggest and most complex challenges.

In your first few weeks in this Data Scientist role, you can expect to:

  • Identify business and performance improvement opportunities across the value chain
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that the relevant business problems are properly defined
  • Investigate complex problems using a structured problem-solving approach
  • Write code and conduct analysis utilising a range of technologies and techniques
  • Enable performance improvement by producing actionable insight from data.

To apply for this Data Scientist role, your soft skills, expertise and experience should include:

    • Have experience programming in Python to:
      • Perform hypothesis tests to support the certainty of findings.
      • Build descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive models.
      • Perform structured and unstructured data mining.
      • Perform dimensionality reduction and feature engineering.
      • Apply machine learning and statistical modelling techniques.
    • Have strong presentation and communication skills.
    • Have experience in project scoping and executing work using a disciplined and structured approach to attain project goals.
    • Have experience in exploring and proposing new ideas that may have benefits for the business.
