Senior Associate Lawyer (ICT procurement, Data and Privacy)

Aldermane is an award-winning NewLaw firm that seeks to ensure the prosperity of Australia through the delivery of cutting-edge legal advice on major Government programs. We were recently named the Government Team of the Year at the 2023 Australian Law Awards, and are seeking to grow our ICT procurement, intellectual property, privacy and data practice.

About you

You will be a people-first person who brings a common-sense mindset to your work and adopts an approachable style in your professional interactions. You will be self-motivated and keen to learn from top-tier lawyers who are the best at what they do.

In terms of experience, we are looking for passionate lawyers with 5-10 years' experience in one or more of the following skillsets: Government procurement, ICT projects, contract law, privacy law and data protection, in a boutique or large law firm, or Government department. Ideally, this will be gained in a front-end context (i.e. project stand up, contract development, or strategic advice context). Some exposure to Defence procurement would be positively viewed, but is not essential for the right candidate.

Given the nature of our work, an AGSVA-issued security clearance is essential. Applicants must hold an active Baseline (or higher) clearance. NV1 is highly preferred.

Applicants that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.

The role

You will be directly involved in delivering [nationally significant and high profile projects for the Australian government. You will benefit from direct client access, and your day to day will see you advising on issues related to major ICT projects, including: 

  • Procurement options, policy, and planning,
  • Tender and contract scope development,
  • Contract drafting, including on issues such as intellectual property, data use, privacy, liability frameworks and performance management,
  • Negotiation strategy and negotiation positions,
  • Contract delivery and management,
  • the protection and security of information, and
  • the collection, use and disclosure of information.
