Assurance and Audit (A&A) requires a dynamic individual with knowledge and experience in the conduct of risk-based audits, reviews and investigations, and the application of data analytics. The Senior Auditor will appraise the adequacy, efficiency and effectiveness of QUT’s operational and financial controls and quality of performance to help ensure that A&A assists toward the achievement of QUT’s vision and key priorities.

A&A resides within the Office of General Council which reports into the Chancellery division. The purpose of A&A is to add value to QUT’s operations and assist QUT in achieving its goals. A&A does this by providing independent analysis, appraisals, investigations, advice, recommendations and information about QUT’s internal control systems, effectiveness and performance quality..

What you need to succeed

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of a degree with at least four (4) years subsequent experience which satisfies membership or certification requirements of a relevant professional body.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully plan, manage and conduct audits, reviews and investigations of a complex nature in a small team environment, including knowledge of relevant legislation and principles applicable to the management of ethical standards and investigative methodologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the relevant auditing and accounting standards and ability to apply these principles within the relevant context.
  • Proven ability in diagnostic and analytical skills with the capacity to effectively work through change.
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills for communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and develop effective working partnerships with colleagues and stakeholders, while demonstrating flexibility and resilience.
