Financial Accountant
About the Role:
As part of the Finance Team, this position will assist with other departments and support the team in the daily finance function. This role requires a strong finance base, and preferably be familiar with corporate financial compliance requirements.
This role is responsible for ensuring financial records are accurately maintained, ensuring transactions are captured correctly and accurately in financial systems, and to ensure internal controls are implemented and maintained to facilitate this including the development of principles, procedures, and practices to comply with legal and corporate requirements for the group.

What will you be doing:
- Assist in the maintenance of the Fixed Asset Registers and ROU Register, and reconciliation to the General Ledger monthly.
- Implement accounting and reporting requirements under AASB and IFRS including but not limited to AASB116 Property, Plant & Equipment and AASB16 Leases.
- Ensure new and relevant accounting standards are communicated and implemented, including arranging appropriate training and knowledge sharing.
- Responsible for the completion of month-end process, including timely preparation of journals and reconciliation files.
- Assist in the preparation of high-quality commentary, variance analysis and explanatory notes for monthly, half-year and annual statutory financial reporting.
- Assist with preparation of reports, position papers and explanatory material for executives and Board committees on technical accounting positions.
- Participate in the interim and annual audit.
- Assist with the Group’s tax compliance obligations including tax fixed asset register.
- Proactively identify gaps in the Group’s financial reporting and governance function and assist in implementing policy and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Qualified CPA/CA or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience, minimum 3 years, in accounting in a corporate environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the development and presentation of financial reports and reconciliations.
- Advanced Excel Skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting policies and reporting requirements with demonstrated ability to apply and communicate knowledge in a clear and effective manner to audiences with various levels of accounting technical knowledge.
- Comprehensive knowledge of a financial accounting ERP (currently SAP Business One) Microsoft Office Applications and Power BI; payroll system (currently HR3) would be an advantage.
- High level communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills.
