Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

The Partner Policy Branch is seeking an EL1 Assistant Director to join their team on an ongoing basis.

The Partner Policy Branch is responsible for the delivery of strategic outcomes that support the NDIS core business outcomes through the Partner in the Community Program (the Partner Program). The Partner Program delivers services to all Australians with disability through strategic partnership arrangements.

The branch is accountable for designing a Partner Program that is financially sustainable and suitable for customers, ensuring the delivery of services are viable and sustainable and ensuring all recommendations and advice to customers is based on research and evidence.

You will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing policies that guide our Agency policy frameworks and strategies that enhance relationships and collaborations with our Partners and our stakeholders. You will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure our partners deliver high-quality services aligned with the Agency’s goals and objectives.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the development and assessment of initiatives in response to the NDIS review
  • Preparing and reviewing written material including business cases, plans, reports and executive briefs.
  • Presenting recommendations and facilitating discussions with a range of Agency stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Monitoring the sector, understanding changes in the market, identifying improvements for initiatives, policy and processes.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, identifying key insights, risks and mitigations that impact policy initiatives.

While this role is ideally performed from Geelong and Richmond - VIC, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity. A merit list will be created from this external recruitment process and may be used for future ongoing and non-ongoing positions.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
