About the Project

McConnell Dowell Constructors are seeking applications from Structural and Civil Supervisors looking to join our team in Diggers Rest, working on the Diggers Rest level crossing removal project. 

McConnell Dowell is the constructor within the Western Program Alliance (WPA) which forms part of the Victorian State government’s Level Crossing Removal Program. The Alliance brings together the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), V/Line, Arup and Mott MacDonald as design partners.

About your opportunity

As a Supervisor on Western Program Alliance, some of your accountabilities will include:
  • Promoting total job safety and environmental awareness to employees, subcontractors and all persons engaged directly or indirectly on the project.
  • Emphasising to all employees and subcontractors the key messaging senior management places on embossing a culture of safe work practices and environmental protection.
  • Ensuring that hazards are identified, risks assessed, and control measures planned and implemented in consultation with relevant employees.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the performance of plant, labour and subcontractors to ensure production targets are met or bettered and take appropriate action as necessary.
  • Organise, coordinate and direct construction activities in accordance with construction schedules so as to complete the works on time and within budget whilst constantly ensuring that planning, safety, environmental and quality requirements are met.
  • Ensuring all activities are performed in compliance with the requirements of the relevant specifications, codes and standards, which form part of the contract.
What we’re looking for
  • Trade’s qualification relevant to the construction, building or manufacturing industries.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience relevant to the designated project and having previously held a position of Foreman.
  • Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementing of same.
  • Strong and proven ability to lead, direct and manage groups of diverse employees.
  • Strong and clear communication skills with proven ability to engage others.
