The team & opportunity:

Downer Utilities has recently been awarded a new contract by Unitywater valued at $600 million over an initial 5-year term. Commencing May 2024, Downer will be responsible for delivering capital works for the water, sewerage and recycled water networks within the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay regions, as well as works across Unitywater’s 17 sewerage treatment plants in the Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Moreton Bay regions. 

As a leading provider of water and wastewater services to millions of residents and businesses along Australia’s East Coast, Downer is proud to be playing a major part in south-east Queensland growth by delivering vital water services that connect communities and enable them to thrive. 

We’re now recruiting key roles to support this long-term, high-value contract that will significantly expand the delivery of our services across the south-east Queensland region. 

As a Zero Harm Manager you are vital in ensuring safety is at the front of everyone’s mind. Reporting to the ANZ Zero Harm Manager and leading a team, you will have the opportunity to mentor, support and develop the safety initiative within the Unity Water contract.  

Our ideal candidate: 

You will drive a positive Zero Harm culture and lead the safety initiative through accurate technical advice and support. This role will allow you to guide, mentor and manage a team to ensure high performance and self-development. 

  • Experience in a Zero Harm leadership role within a large project environment, preferably within the civil/construction space.  
  • Minimum Certificate IV in WHA, Diploma/Degree qualification in WHS.
  • ICAM lead investigator.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (advantageous).  
  • Auditing qualifications (advantageous).
  • Ability to build and sustain positive and collaborative internal and external stakeholder relationships.
