We are looking for a Senior Project Officer to join our Biosecurity Preparedness team to develop and deliver on preparedness activities to build Biosecurity Queensland's response capability.

As our Senior Project Officer, you will:
• Develop and apply project organisational skills and knowledge to successfully scope, plan, deliver and evaluate project activities.
• Clarify project requirements and factors driving and impacting on the project with the Manager and/or project sponsor and/or stakeholders.
• Develop, manage and negotiate revision of schedules with the Manager and assist with allocation of work to project staff as required so the project deliverables are completed to the required standard in agreed timeframes.
• Develop and govern project communications such as regular reporting to sponsor/s, updates to stakeholders, project events (e.g., product launches) etc.
• Oversee document quality and document management standards including effective filing systems to support efficient storage and retrieval e.g., development and implementation of document management procedures, version control protocols etc.
• Monitor and escalate emerging issues in a timely manner, oversee the maintenance of project register/s and records of stakeholder agreements.
• Draw on respected project management methodologies and techniques and use relevant project management software as determined by the project context and in line with departmental requirements.
• Support advocacy for the project in a way that maintains project momentum and that includes and engages others.
• Research and analyse the project subject area/focus to support the development of project plans and proposals, to identify opportunities, emerging issues and possible solutions and/or to inform best practice and/or to improve project efficiency and/or to improve the quality of project outcomes.
• Provide tailored advice to management and staff regarding aspects of the management of responses to incursions of pests and diseases of plants, animals and invasive species.
• Support development and maintenance of incident and emergency management systems including contingency plans, procedures, work instructions, training plans and programs.
• Deliver response preparedness training in collaboration with Principal Project Officer (Biosecurity Response Preparedness).
• Support emergency responses from the state emergency response centre or as directed by the position's manager.
• Support management in representing Queensland at national forums and working groups relevant to the role as required, for example, by contributing to the development of reports and presentation materials.
• Possess or be able to quickly attain a sound working knowledge of Queensland's disaster management arrangements and national biosecurity preparedness and response frameworks.
