Your new role

Council is currently seeking an experienced Strategic Project Planner to collaborate with Council’s day labour, contractors and subcontractors to ensure comprehensive progression of all Project Delivery Projects.

You will be responsible for leading the planning and development of project strategies ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with agreed project deliverables, statutory requirements, on time and within budget.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • Proven track record in planning and developing projects at a minimum of $10 million in value within required timeframes, budgets and quality constraints.
  • Significant demonstrated experience in project development and project management
  • Possess tertiary qualifications in / or substantial experience in building construction, civil Infrastructure, Project Management or other industry related profession.
  • Highly developed experience in communication, consultation and collaboration with proven ability to interact with a range of stakeholders confidently and build effective working relationships.
  • Experience in preparing project briefs, tender documentation, carrying out tender evaluations and undertaking project management including the supervision of staff and contractors.
  • Highly experienced strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to work well in a high-pressure environment, continuing to uphold a high attention to detail with quality outcomes.

Application Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary and/or substantial experience in a similar role (Project Management, Engineering or other industry related profession).
  • Proven track record in delivering large capital projects within required timeframes, budgets and quality constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of tender specifications, contract management and the management of work programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with the management and supervision of civil project staff, consultants and contractors.
  • Proven stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skill with the ability to work cooperatively with elected members, consultants, contractors, members of the public, government agencies and businesses.
