Integrity and Employee Relations in the Department of Education, is seeking skilled, experienced and team oriented senior investigators to join the Investigations team. Due to a recent team restructure, multiple senior investigator roles have become vacant. These roles are offered on a permanent full-time basis.Within this role you will have the opportunity to: Provide high level investigative services in response to allegations of staff misconduct. Manage a caseload of investigations and provide support for local and regionally based investigations.

About the Role:

You will play a vital role in ensuring a fair, safe and accountable environment and workplace for students, employees and clients of the department.
You will have attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to handle multiple complex and sensitive workplace investigations into a broad range of public sector employee conduct issues.
The role is situated in Brisbane and from time to time, you will be required to travel across Queensland to schools and regional offices to conduct workplace investigations. While not mandatory, experience in understanding and applying effective interviewing techniques when conducting interviews with children and other vulnerable people is desirable.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders including State and Federal Police, Crown Law, the Crime and Corruption Commission and other government agencies and represent the department at related forums.
  • Undertake research in areas relevant to the functions of the unit, including investigative techniques, misconduct and disciplinary matters, potential breaches of the Code of Conduct and trends in learning and development.
  • Provide advice and prepare reports, correspondence and briefing notes for the approval of the Minister, Director-General and other clients.
  • Contribute to, and monitor, integrity best practice in the Queensland public sector to ensure that the department practices effective conflict and complaint resolution, and fraud and risk control.
