To lead and manage the planning, resourcing and delivery of key strategic initiatives and provide support to senior management in the development, implementation, and review of Branch priorities.

Please note:

The Forest Practices Authority, Private Forests Tasmania and Forest Policy will transition to the Department of State Growth from 1 July 2024.

This role is part of this transition, and as such any communication you receive will come from the Department of State Growth.

Duties
  • Provide expert high-level analysis, policy advice and recommendations on forests, the forest industry and relevant natural resource management policy issues that meet the economic, environmental, and social expectations of the Agency, industry, and community.
  • Undertake complex strategy, legislative, regulatory and policy development in relation to the forestry sector, supported by relevant research, investigation and analysis and deliver authoritative advice on matters of strategic priority.
  • Undertake, lead, and manage critical plans and projects relating to the forestry industry, including leading and managing direct reports and/or project team members, to ensure the successful delivery of objectives, programs & grants and effective and efficient utilisation of the human, physical and financial resources.
  • Represent the Agency and Government on forestry policy issues as well as various state and national boards and committees.
  • Develop and maintain high level relationships with key stakeholders including industry bodies and local, state and national government bodies to facilitate the effective implementation and achievement of Government objectives and priorities.
  • Prepare high-level briefings, correspondence, reports, and submissions.
