About the role

The Senior Advisor Government and Executive Services plays an important role in providing high level ministerial and executive support to ensure the management of WorkSafe's reputation and key internal and external stakeholder relationships. The role has responsibility for reviewing, reporting and communicating WorkSafe's vision to Government. Key Accountabilities include:

  • Responsible for managing and leading a complex portfolio of work including providing proactive and strategic advice, anticipating, identifying and managing reputational issues, risks and opportunities.
  • Lead proactive engagement with internal and external stakeholders, particularly employee and government stakeholders, related to legislative and policy projects.
  • Provide advice to support management on a range of Government and policy issues through comprehensive written briefing notes, speaking points, preparation of meeting packs, and other forms of communications.

About you

You have experience working in a politically sensitive and policy rich environment with a proactive approach. A strong understanding of the Parliamentary process, political issues and awareness is required. You display initiative and feel comfortable with ambiguity in fast paced high performing team environment. You are a true team player who can support and mentor your colleagues whilst working simultaneously on your tasks. You have exceptional relationship building and stakeholder management skills. In addition, you will also possess:

  • Proven ability to think strategically and synthesize complex material and issues to develop a clear strategic direction or options supported by key messages within critical timeframes.
  • Proven experience in identifying, developing and managing relevant Government briefing material, advice and preparing concise briefing documents, correspondence, presentations and reports to a professional standard.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to resolve complex problems and make decision to advance key policy portfolio's with limited direction. Exceptional formal communication skills (written and verbal) and a demonstrated eye for detail to ensure quality outcomes.
  • A tertiary qualification in a related field is highly desirable (i.e. Business, Policy, Communications, Law, Economics etc.)
