Vets in Fawkner is looking for a Full Time Head Nurse / 2IC. This would suit a Nurse Superstar that enjoys a challenge and is ready for the next step in their career

We are looking for someone to join us who is ready to take the next step in their career from nursing into a leadership position. The role will involve all general nursing and reception work with added 2IC tasks and responsibilities. Being responsible for the back of house day to day running, training of junior nurses, and providing leadership and guidance for the team. You will be supported by the lead vet and practice manager. This position will have a strong focus on people development with duties to support the team and clinic in the day-to-day functions. The goal of this role will be to support the growth of both our nursing and vet team and the clinic itself.

About us:

Vet in Fawkner has been an established clinic for over 30 years. Our team includes 3 vets, 2 nurses and 3 exceptionally dedicated receptionists. Our clinic strives to provide gold standards of care to all our patients as well as providing work-life balance for our amazing team. Our hospital facilities include brand new Idexx blood machines, Digital x-rays, dental radiographs, quality monitoring equipment and patient warming equipment as well as regular visiting surgical specialists and ultra sonographers.

The Head Nurse key responsibilities:

  • Supporting our vet and nursing team in all aspects of nursing

  • Clinic ordering and stock control.

  • Assist in day-to-day roster changes, leave approvals, shift changes.

  • Train, develop and mentor junior nurses.

  • Manage day-to-day clinic flow of client and patients.

  • Assist with building and maintaining client rapport.

  • Updating the clinic website and assisting with social media

What We Are Looking For:

  • Certificate IV or equivalent in veterinary nursing with at least 3 years’ experience

  • Competent surgical monitoring skills and nurse consulting skills

  • Excellent customer service, time management and organisation skills

  • Ability to work well within a team-oriented environment.

  • The ability to work efficiently, both independently and as a part of our team.

  • Available to work Monday – Friday. No weekend work as the clinic is closed.
