About the role
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the Senior Manager Compliance will manage the Cbus Compliance operations team, partner with key stakeholders within the Fund and manage the group operational and administrative services.
The role works with business units across the trustee office building strong relationships to ensure the Fund's compliance needs are met. A key part of the role will be the ability to engage and influence stakeholders, consistently applying a measured approach to all interactions, along with strengthening and advocating the Fund's compliance expectations, services and brand.
The Senior Manager, Compliance will be responsible and accountable for (but not limited to) the following key areas:
- Oversight of compliance operations team including management of direct reports.
- Oversight of Compliance workflow and effective triage of incoming work.
- Management of business partner program including determining key activities for partnering and oversight of delivery.
- Management of key stakeholders across the Fund to ensure there is appropriate engagement and understanding between teams of Line 1 and Line 2 activities.
- Manage the delivery and oversight of the following compliance activities:
- Compliance monitoring and assurance
- Incident management and breach reporting
- Financial crime control including anti-fraud and AML/CTF programs.
- AFSL compliance (monitoring, reporting, lodgments)
- Regulatory reporting and responding to notices.
- Board/committee/forum reporting
- Co-ordinating compliance support for projects/programs of work
- Co-ordinating compliance support for remediation activities
- Privacy Management Framework
- Compliance interaction with and monitoring of Cbus Property
- Currency of Policy Framework
- Compliance training programs
- Continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to implementation of strategic compliance initiatives.
- Monitor and contribute to alignment and collaboration between Governance, Risk, Complaints and Compliance teams in relation to involvement in key activities and service delivery to the Fund.
- Degree qualifications in a related subject area with 7+ years of experience in senior compliance, legal or related roles.
- RG146 compliant (or a commitment to complete this qualification) as this is a requirement of staff authorized to give general financial advice under the AFSL license.
- Advanced people management capability, demonstrated by prior team management responsibility and demonstrated ability to build and develop successful teams.
- A good working knowledge of Financial Services, Superannuation and related Laws and regulatory requirements as they relate to superannuation.
- Excellent organisational skills and strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills to deal effectively with internal and external contacts.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to support delivery of financial advice programs that are able to satisfy both member and regulatory needs.
- Ability to prepare and deliver reports at Committee and Board level.
- Ability to build and deliver compliance training programs.
- Expertise at working with Fund administrators, external lawyers, auditors and regulators.
- Ability to manage group compliance, operational, administrative and knowledge management services, systems and tools.
- Ability to negotiate effectively and commercially with external parties.
- Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team by participating in Fund-wide projects.
- Ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively and as a member of a team.
- A high level of comfort working in a membership-based organisation.
- Willingness to champion and demonstrate the Cbus values and associated behaviours.
- An ability to work within a commercially sensitive environment and maintain confidentiality; and
- Professional ethics and integrity.
