Your role as the Senior Statistician / Analyst will be in the Statistical Coordination team within QGSO. You will provide statistical data, advice and support to Queensland Treasury and other Queensland Government departments.

Job duration

Job duration Until 28 March 2025 with possible extension.

THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide statistical advice, information and support to regional clients, exercising judgement to coordinate the management of client requirements and competing work priorities.
• Represent QGSO at regional meetings, networks and forums.
• Lead project teams as required and directly project manage complex activities and ensure outputs satisfy Office standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles and methodologies.
• Conduct high level research, analysis and review of complex issues and proposals. Recommend and implement appropriate action.
• Support Office teams to negotiate data provision with data custodians and compile and publish economic, demographic and social statistics for Queensland.
• Prepare detailed project proposals or agreements for the provision of statistical services.
• Coordinate consultation activities with statistical providers.
• Assist in promoting QGSO services.

SUCCESS CRITERIA:
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in providing client-focused services.
• Experience working in a regional setting and engaging with regional stakeholders.
• Experience working in a supportive, virtual team environment and an understanding of perspectives in fostering an inclusive workplace.
• Experience accessing and using statistical information tools.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing work priorities with tight deadlines, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
• While not essential, skills and experience in processing and analysing data using the statistical software application “R” are highly desirable.
