QinetiQ are now accepting applications for an experienced Test & Evaluation (T&E) Engineer to join our Explosive Material Branch (EMB) based in Canberra.
Boasting the largest team of highly respected and experienced Explosive Ordnance (EO) acquisition personnel, our consultants/engineers work in close partnership with our clients and are embedded within a vibrant team, working on multi- million dollar projects that are at the cutting edge of innovation in Defence munitions and the creation of sovereign defence capability. Working within the Explosive Material Branch (EMB) offers a unique opportunity for career specialisation which will provide ongoing learning and opportunities for accelerated growth to broaden your career
As T&E Engineer you will be accountable for:
- Planning, drafting and maintaining Project Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP) and related processes supporting assigned projects for the Aerospace Explosive Ordnance Systems Project Office (AEOSPO)
- Supporting a safety first culture across the BU in all technical activities undertaken by the BU
- Obtaining, maintaining and exercising Engineering Authority in accordance with the EMB EMS
- Developing and updating project engineering and technical artefacts including but not limited to Technical Certification Plans, System Engineer Management Plans, Functional and Performance specifications, Test and Evaluation Master Plans, Certification basis
- Supporting Deputy Director Emerging Projects (DDEP) , EP PM and the MSP Project Manager in progressing project engineering and technical outcomes
- Providing Specialist advice to DDEP, EP PM and the MSP Project Manager on Explosive Ordnance, Systems Engineering and other engineering technical matters
- Developing engineering certification artefacts such as Safety Case Reports and Hazard Logs
To be successful in the role of T&E Engineer you will need to bring with you:
- First degree in science or engineering with an additional proven record of significant experience and demonstrated competence in a T&E engineering role
- Qualifications and experience to achieve Chartered Practicing Engineer with Engineers Australia or equivalent
- Deep expertise of EO systems, sub-systems and overarching standards
- In-depth knowledge of safety and suitability for service (S3) in the Defence domain
- Experience working within and maintaining Engineering Management Systems and ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements and technical safety and risk management
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in review and certification of system designs under a documented and robust Technical Management System
- Experience working with project managers and leaders to balance project risk, schedule and cost
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others in a team to achieve shared objectives
- Self-motivation with the ability to set challenging personal goals and demonstrate personal energy, drive and determination to achieve them even in the face of pressure or problems, whilst maintaining positive working relationships
Whilst not essential, an understanding of and experience in application of Australian Defence Force (ADF) certification principles, processes and standards would be highly regarded
Candidates will need to hold an NV1 Australian Government Security Clearance.
