Be part of a team that is making a difference by developing, reviewing and monitoring regional plans that facilitate outcomes focused on addressing existing and emerging land use planning issues of regional significance.
We are seeking a dynamic professional to join our team as a Planning Analyst in the Growth Monitoring Program (GMP) helping to enable the department to make informed data driven decisions using the latest data and technologies. Your sound knowledge and understanding of regional and urban planning alongside sourcing, transforming and analysing data to gain insights will support Land Supply and Development Monitoring (LDSM) functions for South East Queensland.
What you will be doing
• Analysing data (spatial and non-spatial) to extract insights to inform planning policy making on land and dwelling supply matters across the region.
• Support and apply specialist knowledge and expertise to undertake liaison on planning and development assessment related matters that are of strategic importance to the department.
• Undertake research and analysis and interpret complex issues in relation to strategic regional planning initiatives in partnership with various State agencies and local governments.
• Liaise and develop effective networks with internal and external stakeholders to deliver planning outcomes.
• Support and draft detailed advice and support to senior management and to internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare well researched correspondence, briefings and cabinet documentation.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary projects and project teams.
• Represent the department, as appropriate, at industry/stakeholders events in an effective and professional manner.
• Provide technical advice to internal and external clients on local, statutory, and regional planning issues
• Represent the department, as appropriate, at industry/stakeholders' events, meetings and working groups in an effective and professional manner
• Actively contribute to fostering a multi-disciplinary team environment and positive culture, where team members enjoy coming to work, are appropriately skilled and challenged, and understand the contributions their role plays in the success of business outcomes
What we are looking for
• Someone who prioritises projects and tasks efficiently in line with team commitments and recognises issues that impact on the work of the team
• Someone who has proven experience in analysing planning, housing and demographic data, can extract insights and findings, and produce sound research reports for planning policy and decision making
• Takes the initiative to collaborate with people from a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and expertise.
• Welcomes challenges in the delivery of work and demonstrates persistence in working through obstacles
• Actively seeks regular feedback and modifies approach to enhance own effectiveness.
• Analyses information to proactively identify risks to the team's planned activities.
• Spatial analysis, ArcGIS, and FME experience would be advantageous
