Metal Fabricator

GCE Contractors Pty Ltd is a civil construction company based in Brisbane. We are currently recruiting for a full-time Metal Fabricator with welding experience. We have recently been awarded new projects with reinforced steel structures and as a result need to recruit a suitably qualified Metal Fabricator with commercial and civil experience. The person must be willing to commit to the company on a long-term basis and agree to be relocated to another regional area at short notice.

We are committed to employing local workers. Ideally, we would like to recruit an Australian or an Eligible New Zealand Metal Fabricator for this position. Our Head Office is located in 55 McDonald Road, Windsor QLD 4030, with most projects across Brisbane.

Applicants must possess:

✓ At least an AQF Cert III or Cert IV or equivalent and 2 years’ experience OR 3 years or more highly relevant experience

✓ Strong analytical and mathematical skills

✓ Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and perform fabrications with precision and accuracy

Duties:

✓ Examine detailed technical fabrication drawing or specifications to determine materials and equipment required

✓ Design and prepare appropriate templates for processes

✓ Assemble and fabricate sheet metal products for processes

✓ Ensure compliance to specifications prior to measurement

✓ Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions

✓ Utilise hand torch and furnace to pre-heat to preheat pieces of metal if requires

✓ Use of welder, folder and other power tools for fabrication

✓ Examine workpieces for defects and hammer out bulges or bends

✓ Cut reinforcement bar and mesh fabrics

✓ Perform advanced welding using manual metal arc welding processes

✓ Installation and assembly of structural steel systems

✓ Monitor quality of production welding and fabrication

✓ Comply with the Health and Safety systems and requirements in the workplace

✓ Assist with other tasks on site as directed by management

This is a full-time position. You will be paid $100,000 plus Superannuation and will be required to work 38 hours per week. You may be required to work overtime during the week and occasional Saturdays and Sundays.
