You will be working with a global manufacturer with an excellent reputation as the leader in the industry. Located in Sydney's Southwestern region, this manufacturer offers an excellent production facility with a great company culture. Your new company is looking for a Maintenance Supervisor on a permanent day shift, working Monday to Friday.
Your new role
The primary objective of this role is to oversee maintenance services for all aspects of the manufacturing site in southwest Sydney, including plant equipment, processes, buildings, grounds, and ancillary services like security, cleaning, waste disposal, and building upkeep.
The Maintenance Supervisor ensures the seamless operation of factory machinery by coordinating maintenance activities to optimise reliability. This includes providing the maintenance team with the necessary labour, materials, and technical data to function efficiently and cost-effectively.
In this role you will be reporting to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager and leading the maintenance crew.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Support
- Reduce maintenance costs while enhancing service quality.
- Minimise downtime and interruptions.
- Address critical tasks first in collaboration with operations.
- Apply technical and maintenance knowledge to job analysis.
- Act as the main contact for all maintenance work, including in-process, scheduled, and emergency tasks.
- Encourage operational staff to anticipate and report repair needs before they become urgent.
Breakdown, Planned & Preventative Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of all site equipment to ensure reliable operation.
- Diagnose and solve equipment breakdowns.
- Implement preventative and planned maintenance schedules.
- Maintain workshop equipment using proper lubrication and preventative techniques.
- Suggest modifications to enhance performance.
- Accurately report failure reasons and recommend design/system modifications.
- Uphold testing protocols and standards.
- Enforce and audit maintenance procedures.
- Ensure maintenance records, engineering specifications, and drawings are up-to-date.
- Enhance plant safety and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards.
- Contribute to new projects and liaise with construction contractors as needed.
People Management
- Oversee workshop activities.
- Train and develop new and existing employees in repair techniques.
- Maintain workshop standards, including safety and housekeeping.
- Ensure compliance with testing procedures.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be trade qualified either mechanically or electrically, with experience in the manufacturing industry and experience in Australia. Ideally, you will have been working in the industry for a significant period of time, with roughly 5+ years in a supervisory role. You will have excellent fault-finding experience, with a proven track record of being calm under pressure and working with a medium-sized maintenance crew.
