Branch Manager, Internal Audit and International Affairs

As CASA's CAE, you will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and work closely with the Board Audit and Risk Committee (BARC). The functions of the branch also involve oversight of the administration of key aspects of CASA's international affairs and the coordination of CASA's strategic international engagement policy, programs and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) tripartite matters.
As a member of CASA's Senior Leadership Team, the role contributes to the strategic direction of the organisation and acts in accordance with CASA's values and behaviours and consistent with the Regulatory Philosophy.
This preferred location is Canberra and will require interstate travel and may require some overseas travel.
Working closely with the Executive Manager, Legal, International and Regulatory Affairs, you will be responsible for the following deliverables, which represent an ongoing body of work:
• Ensuring the successful performance of internal audit functions including:
• Managing key aspects of CASA's relationship with the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO); and
• Managing CASA's internal audit program, including the relationship with CASA's contracted internal audit service providers, the development of topics for the internal audit program, and management of responses to internal audit reports.
• Supporting the delivery of CASA's strategic international engagement policy.
• Overseeing the development and maintenance of formal agreements and arrangements between CASA and overseas aviation safety regulators and/or international aviation safety organisations (this may include aspects of treaty-level agreements, memoranda of understanding, technical agreements and working procedures).
• Overseeing the coordination and delivery of CASA's strategic international engagement programs and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) tripartite matters.
• Representing CASA, and ensuring the support of other CASA representatives, at ICAO and other international and regional conferences, maintaining and developing relationships with counter-part representatives of other national and regional aviation authorities and other public and private sector organisations.
You will work supportively and cooperatively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to achieve shared outcomes.
You will engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees in a sensitive, respectful and equitable manner.
You will promote workplace safety, equity and diversity, and act in accordance with the CASA Values and Behaviours.
You will undertake other duties as required.
The key duties of the position include
Our ideal candidate will have:
• Experience leading, managing, and mentoring staff, developing team culture and implementing collaborative and coordinated work practices.
• Experience in the provision of internal audit programs and a strong understanding of relevant international standards for the professional practice of internal auditing.
• At least five (5) years' experience in the management or conduct of audits (or both) in accordance with recognised audit standards.
• Current or recent past membership of a recognised professional standards organisation, such as the Institute of Internal Auditors or equivalent, or be eligible for such membership.
• Knowledge, or the ability to acquire knowledge, of the national and international legislation that gives effect to Australia's obligations under the Chicago Convention and the Standards and Recommended practices specified in the relevant Annexes to that Convention. #J-18808-Ljbffr
