The Company

The Port of Hastings Corporation (the Port) is responsible for managing the landside port operations at the Port of Hastings, including the maintenance and development of the associated port infrastructure. They are committed to the Port being a safe and vibrant deep-water port and ensuring its sustainable long-term development, recognising the Port is located within an area of international ecological significance.

The Role

Reporting to the Environment Manager, the Environment & Planning Project Coordinator will be crucial in facilitating the successful delivery of the Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal project by assisting in the management of the Environmental Effects Statement (EES) and secondary approvals, coordinating stakeholder engagement, overseeing environmental management tasks, and supporting the Environment Team in addressing environmental issues and regulatory compliance.

In this role you will:

  • Provide project management support to the Environment Team for the delivery of environmental approvals.
  • Support the EES consultant and PoHC Environment Team in managing responses to Requests for Information, ensuring timely delivery of technical studies, and tracking information transfer through Aconex.
  • Manage weekly detailed schedules for EES/Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC) Referral/Secondary approvals, coordinating incoming requests and outgoing responses.
  • Arrange proactive meetings with key agencies and draft presentations.
  • Interact with and support the Environmental team in meetings with planning, regulatory, industry bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate Technical Reference Group meetings with Department of Transport & Planning (DTP), including logistics, minutes, actions, presentations, and IT.
  • Develop and manage detailed schedules for the EES with PoHC Environment Team fortnightly, including tracking and coordination of upcoming tasks.

About You

You are a recognised environmental professional with recent experience in supporting the delivery of environmental approvals for major infrastructure projects through EE Act and EPBC Act requirements.

With proven experience in the management of projects through the Planning and Approval process, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Management, Planning, or Engineering.
  • >7 years of relevant environmental / approvals project management experience.
  • Proficiency in project management tools/software such as Aconex, SharePoint, and Consultation Manager.
