Join our Wholesale Risk team as a Wholesale Risk Analyst In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in quantitative risk analysis, crafting methodologies, and designing cutting-edge tools and models. About the Role

As our Wholesale Risk Analyst you will be responsible for the following:

  • Providing operational excellence through the monitoring and maintenance of risk metrics, as per the risk policies and regulations.
  • Quantification of risks and opportunities in the wholesale energy markets by interrogating market data with a set of quantitative, statistical and data science techniques.
  • Maintenance and upgrade of existing risk processes in order to improve their fitness to current market condition.
  • Developing risk models in R and Python and communicating analysis of model results via Tableau reporting to Trading and Finance stakeholders.
  • Provision of analytical, systems, process and documentation supporting risk team and broader business units in managing risks, while also providing appropriate controls for segregation of duties.
  • Forward curve construction and valuation of derivatives for mark-to-market purposes

How can you support the Clean Energy Transition

  • Education Minimum: Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline (finance, computer science, mathematics, engineering or equivalent).
  • A genuine interest for commodity markets, the energy industry, and the challenges that the transition to a green economy pose to Australia. A commercial focus supported by quantitative skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Strong knowledge of statistical modelling techniques and their application. Proficiency in advanced analytical tools and programming languages such as R, Python, C++, Matlab, SAS.
  • Knowledge of cloud-computing environments and distributed computing frameworks will be considered favourably.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work in team environment and communicate complicated subjects.
  • Experience of financial risk management tools, techniques and development of risk metrics including Value at Risk, Margin at Risk, Cash Flow at Risk and stress testing
