Role & Responsibilities:
  • Prepare accurate financial reports, statements, and balance sheets for cost centres, business segments and individual and consolidated companies as required for monthly management reporting.
  • Oversee reconciliation and audit processes, ensure compliance with accounting standards, audit and taxation requirements, meeting required deadlines.
  • Meet statutory obligations, including ABS reporting, BAS lodgements, PAYG, FBT returns, and employee superannuation.
  • Administer finance systems and portals, including Sun Systems, SAP Concur, and ADP payroll.
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable and oversee payroll functions.
  • Plan and coordinate insurance renewals and completion of wages actual and estimates declarations for workers' compensation.
  • Improve business systems within the Finance department to enhance service quality and effectiveness.
  • Ensure integrity of accounting systems through accurate transaction posting and compliance with procedures.
  • Lead and develop a team, participate in training opportunities, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

About you?
  • Experience in a similar industry, including dealings with the NDIS and other government funded programs.
  • Experience in transitioning teams to future state automation processes and the implementation of integrated financial systems.
  • Significant experience in all aspects of accounting including preparation of financial statements including balance sheets.
  • Experience in preparing consolidated accounts for multiple company structures.
  • Experience in the administration of accounting and payroll systems.
  • Experience with taxation issues, in particular GST, PAYG and FBT.
  • Demonstrated skills in working with and knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes including Word, Excel and Outlook and competence with integrated financial accounting systems, payroll systems.
  • Degree qualification in Business or Commerce, majoring in Accounting or equivalent.
  • CPA or CA qualified.
  • Strong people management skills with an ability to create a collegial and high performing team-based work environment to effectively respond to a challenging change context.
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and NDIS Check or willingness to undertake.
  • Willingness to undertake a National Criminal History Check (Newcastle Anglican will consider the relevance of any reported outcomes)
  • Current drivers' licence
