About the RoleWSP Property and Buildings Structures group has a role for an Associate Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Melbourne. Our Property and Buildings team is a world-leading technical consultancy operating across all sectors. We are passionate about tackling the existing and emerging challenges of the built environment and delivering innovative and sustainable solutions to create accessible, resilient and liveable communities.
Our Building Structures group is a specialist team renowned for its innovation in structural engineering and cutting-edge BIM project execution across high-rise and complex building structures and infrastructure projects, with offices in every major city across Australia. We operate as a highly autonomous and genuinely national team.

As an Associate Structural Engineer you will:
- Operate in a market-facing and design delivery focused role
- Handle ongoing communication and highly effective professional relationships with clients
- Proactively determine, manage, monitor and control scope of works
- Project lead work across the design, tender and delivery phases for multi-year/packaged work for turnkey projects
- Ensure timely and quality delivery of project and structural engineering work in compliance with relevant technical, commercial and regulatory standards – and in alignment with schedules and budgets
- Manage effective stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally
- Provide sound technical/delivery guidance for the team
- Mentor, train and develop the careers of junior engineers
- Partner with internal stakeholders and a collaborative, national team in a multidisciplinary engineering setting
The successful candidate we are looking for will have:
- Bachelor to Masters’ level degree (Civil/Structural Engineering)
- Typically 10+ years’ industry experience on building projects (commercial, retail, defence, health and education)
- Technical expertise in structural engineering design
- Well-developed client facing, business development and account/relationship management skills
- Track record of effective cross-discipline project delivery
- The ability to lead, train and mentor junior engineers across technical and project delivery aspects
- Understanding of ETABS, BIM, NavisWorks and Revit Structure (advantageous)
