About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Supply Chain Manager to oversee and optimize our supply chain operations within the heavy metal manufacturing sector. This pivotal role will be based across our two sites in Clontarf and Geebung, Brisbane, which will be merging into a single, unified site over the next 1-2 years. The successful candidate will play a critical role in this transition, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to operations.
As a Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of our supply chain activities, with a particular focus on warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving efficiency, reducing costs, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role demands a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain strategies that align with company goals and objectives. Ensure these strategies are flexible enough to adapt to the merging of sites.
- Oversee all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatching of goods. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing holding costs. Implement inventory tracking systems and conduct regular audits.
- Coordinate logistics activities, including inbound and outbound transportation, to ensure timely delivery of materials and products. Negotiate contracts with suppliers and logistics providers.
- Lead the supply chain integration process during the site merger, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal disruption to operations. Develop and execute detailed project plans for the merger.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure quality and reliability.
- Continuously evaluate and improve supply chain processes and systems. Implement lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and enhance productivity.
- Manage and mentor a team of supply chain and warehouse staff. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Ensure all supply chain activities comply with relevant regulations and standards. Promote a culture of safety and ensure adherence to health and safety policies.
- Provide regular reports and analyses on supply chain performance, including KPIs and other metrics. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive improvements.
About you:
- Proven experience as a Supply Chain Manager, preferably within the heavy metal manufacturing sector. Strong background in warehouse management and logistics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., APICS) are a plus.
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities. Experience in leading teams through significant changes, such as site mergers, is highly desirable.
- Ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with business goals. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in supply chain management software and tools. Familiarity with ERP systems and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and priorities. Experience in managing supply chain activities during periods of significant change.
- A strong commitment to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and delivering high-quality results.
