The Perth Glory Football Club is an Australian professional football club based in Perth, Western Australia. It competes as Western Australia’s sole representative team, in the country's premier men's & women’s competitions, the A-Leagues, (A-League Men, and A-League Women) under licence from Australian Professional Leagues (APL). The club also competes in the local National Premier League (NPL) competition and fields teams from u13 – u23 as part of its youth academy programme in addition to its first team. The club has won the national league championship twice and the national premiership four times in its 25-year history.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the GM Commercial will lead partnership development and the maximisation of commercial sales and servicing ROO and ROI to realise exceptional outcomes for all commercial partners of the football club. A commercial partnership strategist you will be highly focused on relationship development and the growth of new and existing partners, the sales pipeline and new revenue streams.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement commercial strategies in line with the strategic direction set by the CEO
- Drive the acquisition of new commercial partnerships and the retention of all partners
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and potential sponsors
- Build and maintain a high level of targeted sales activity to enhance the long-term sustainability of the commercial department.
- Maximise commercial investment and corporate sponsorship in the form of cash and value in kind support.
- Identify new ways to obtain, develop and nurture new revenue opportunities
- Understand key target customer profiles to help drive commercial outcomes
- Adopt a continuous improvement sponsorship servicing strategy for stakeholder management – ensuring the fulfilment of sponsorship agreement entitlements/benefits and the maximization of them
- Work collaboratively as part of the Commercial Team and other Perth Glory departments, such as Media, Community, Merchandise, Events, Membership and High Performance, to create opportunities for corporate partners to engage with the club.
- Develop written partnership proposals, presentations and partner activity reports ensuring maximum accuracy.
- Drive the development of captivating and inspiring corporate and sponsorship marketing and sales collateral and other revenue generating documents
- Oversee the management and delivery of all major game day and non-game day club corporate events
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
To be successful in this role you will be required to demonstrate the following:
- Minimum of 5-year experience in leading and influencing high performing sales teams and preferably in in sport sponsorship environments
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant field – Commerce, Business, Marketing, Management
- Proven track record of successfully negotiating and delivering business critical commercial partnerships both cash and contra
- Established networking and new business development methodology.
- Strong track record of consistently achieving high performing sales outcomes
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal), negotiation and relationship building skills.
- Strong track record of consistently achieving high performing sales outcomes
- Strong time management and presentation skills and the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
- Current Driver’s License
