Rubix Solutions are currently seeking an experienced Network Support Engineer on behalf our our leading consultancy client in Wollongong, NSW. 

At least 2 years networking Operational support with Cisco routers, switches and wireless is required for the role. You will be responsible for providing Level 2/3 and advanced technical support to clients customers, this is a hands-on role requires a robust technical background in data networking and security products support. The responsibilities range from design, product audits, site surveys, installations to troubleshooting and customer support. Support activities include field service from Monday to Friday at the customer’s premises, Level 2/3 diagnostics, and participation in an after-hours on-call roster for onsite customer support. 

Requirements:

  • Certified Cisco CCNP in Routing and Switching and/or Security.
  • Certifications in WLAN and outdoor wireless products are advantageous.
  • Strong experience with network security, wireless, and firewall technologies.
  • Solid understanding of Cisco data networking products.
  • Proven experience in managing major incidents with solid methodologies and attention to detail.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in networking and/or a technical management role in technical support and/or incident management roles.
  • Professionalism with a strong customer focus.
  • Good communication skills and customer-facing experience.
Technical Experience:
  • Supporting Cisco Wireless Environments and Cisco DNAC.
  • Supporting Cisco ASA/FirePower security products.
  • Supporting F5 LTM products.
  • Supporting outdoor wireless products.
  • Managing major incidents and collaborating with technical teams of L2/L3 network engineers.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with Cisco networking products in project and support engagements.
  • Experience in mission-critical environments.
  • Working within the ITILv3 service management framework.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Computer Science or Engineering is highly desirable.
  • Cisco Routing and Switching and/or Security certifications.
  • Wireless certifications.
  • Training or certification in ITIL processes and policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design: Develop customer solutions. In simple cases, this involves only data components, handled solely by the data engineer. In more complex environments involving other areas like Voice and Applications, collaboration with other disciplines is essential to meet customer business requirements.
  • Installations: Plan and roll out customer data networks, sometimes in conjunction with the client’s Project Management. Close liaison with the PM is required, and in other cases, the data engineer will be responsible for the installation and rollout. Coordinate with the Technical Support Manager Data for appropriate resourcing and engage subcontractors when necessary.
  • Support: Provide technical data support to customers with maintenance contracts or paying T&M rates for maintenance. This includes remote diagnostics via telephone and dial-in to the customer network. If onsite attendance is necessary, the engineer will attend the site or coordinate a field service person or subcontractor. The Data Engineer maintains ownership of fault resolution through to completion.
  • On-Call Support: Provide network support and preventative maintenance activities after hours.
  • Vendor Coordination: Test problems, devise solutions, implement 
  • Cost Management: Track costs and adhere to economical solutions in delivering services. Ensure all call log reports are completed and closed within required guidelines, and all documentation is forwarded to Customer Support for billing..
  • Reporting: Complete a weekly summary report and timesheet indicating hours spent each week and submit to the Technical Support Manager.
