The Opportunity

We are working with an Australian Government Department, assisting them with a significant long-term program of work and we have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Solution Architect to join the on-site team in Canberra.

Working across multiple projects and with a variety of stakeholders you will be designing solutions to enable the delivery of data and statistics to government to assist in the wellbeing of Australians across the country.

Your main responsibility will be to provide the necessary leadership, analysis and designs to support the development of technology solutions to ensure that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards. Specific responsibilities will include:

• Translating business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint
• Understanding business drivers and capabilities and defining enterprise solution designs and change requirements
• Analysing the business-IT environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and propose solutions for improvement. 
• Consulting with IT Operations, Security and Development, and identify and make changes to accommodate the solutions architecture 
• Leading the evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of the solutions architecture 
• Providing consulting support to application architects within agile teams to ensure the project or product is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture, and 
• Designing and directing the governance activities ensuring solutions architecture assurance and compliance. 

This is an initial 12 months assignment commencing in July working with the Federal Government (with potential to extend to 3 years) so you MUST be an Australian Citizen (security clearance NOT required) and will be able to demonstrate:

• Significant experience as a Senior Strategic Solution Architect in large and complex environments including:
• Ability to work with and negotiate solutions with senior stakeholders
• Have a strategic outlook to solutions
• Ability to develop a quick understanding of new technologies
• Experience with the following technologies:
  • Network Infrastructure: Knowledge of OSI model and the communication protocols that operate at each layer of the stack.
  • Security: Understanding encryption, in transit, and at rest and testing for vulnerabilities in a systems design.
  • Cloud/Hybrid/On-Premises Infrastructure: Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms with knowledge of compute, storage, identity & access management, governance, and networking services.
  • Database Administration or Design: Knowledge of SQL and data vault/data warehouse/data lake solutions.

Note this is an on-site (at least 3 days per week) role based in Canberra.
