Your team
The Business Controls, Monitoring and Remediation team plays a key role in strengthening front line accountability for risk management, providing thought leadership, advice, and challenge in the management of risks, obligations and controls, and overseeing adherence to risk appetite.
We now have the opportunity for a Business Controls Manager to join the team, based in the head office in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD or Sydney CBD.
This is a full-time opportunity with flexible working arrangements.
This role reports directly to the Senior Manager, Business Controls
Your impact and contribution
You will play a key role in supporting the business manage and mitigate risk, providing input into the implementation of frameworks, policies, supporting standards, processes and procedures by collaborating and partnering with stakeholders, advancing understanding of our risk, control and obligation environment.
Risk and Controls Management
•You provide advice and guidance to the Chief Customer Office division, on the implementation of the Risk Management Framework, and internal Standards.
•You will work with the CCO business to understand key controls and work with the first line risk community to identify which key organisational controls are relied upon across the enterprise.
•You will draw from your experience of conducting control testing to support the business complete its annual testing plan.
Incident and Breach Management
•You assess incidents, including incident / breach investigation, facilitate root cause analysis, and make recommendations on mitigating actions and control improvement design.
Compliance and Obligations
•You will monitor and support the delivery and maintenance of compliance plans.
Business Continuity Planning
•You ensure that the BCPs, or elements of the BCPs are tested at least annually.
Risk Culture and Divisional Requirements
•You inform and contribute to the preparation of inputs into risk forums.
•You liaise with and challenge the second and third lines of defence as required.
Your experience
•Minimum 5 years in financial services with a strong understanding of operational risk and compliance in the financial services industry
•Relevant tertiary qualifications
•Demonstrated experience in a similar risk and/or compliance role, preferably in the 1LOD and in Banking and Financial Services Industry
•Experience in formulating and implementing compliance and compliance procedures
•Demonstrated experience with industry and governance standards (e.g. Three Lines of Defence, ISO 31000, APRA CPS220)
•Strong Experience in risks relating to banking, and the legislative/regulatory requirements around these (e.g. Privacy Act, Corporations Act, NCCP Act).
•Strong understanding of industry legislation and regulatory requirements, including current and upcoming regulatory change.
•Strategic thinking and the ability to deliver solutions to risk and compliance issues, including experience in developing and delivering Risk and compliance strategies aimed to enhance 1LOD capability and uplift maturity.

Professional Essentials / Accreditation
•Degree-level (Finance, Business, Commerce, Law) qualification
Professional Desirable / Accreditation
•Governance Institute Australia
•Risk Management Institute of Australasia certification
•Knowledge of requirements of corporate governance, regulatory affairs, human resources and/or risk management.
•Knowledge of relevant Financial Services regulatory and compliance considerations.
