The reason for this role:

The Grid Connection Manager is accountable to the General Manager, Grid for Goldwind Australia. The role is effectively a project manager for the grid connection process.

What you will be doing?

  • Secure Connection Agreements including negotiating Generator Performance Standards and cost-effective commercial contracts for Goldwind’s investment and sales projects as required.
  • Provide leadership in the management of the commercial and legal issues in securing grid and connection agreements.
  • Coordinate technical expertise from within the Grid, Engineering, R&D team and consultants to ensure that Generator Performance Standards are negotiated in line with Goldwind’s capabilities and business interests.
  • Manage the contractual delivery of Connection Agreements to ensure the efficient delivery of connections for renewable energy projects, including managing due diligence with AEMO and NSPs, meeting Generator Performance Standards, and requirements for testing, commissioning, energization, and registration.
  • Ensure that Goldwind products are developed to be suitable for grid connection in Australia by providing market research and feedback to Goldwind R&D.
  • Ensure that the interfaces between NSPs and Goldwind’s project stakeholders are effectively managed.
  • Manage consultants and Engineering team to perform grid connection studies to ensure the successful completion of S, D, R1, Commissioning, and R2 stages of grid connection as required.
  • Coordinate the provision of technical support to assist the achievement of turbine sales in Australia.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to external customers on the capabilities of Goldwind products including site visits to operating Goldwind projects.
  • Coordinate engineering resources focused on grid connection activities.
  • Assist the Goldwind Australia team in complying with safety, OH&S and environmental and risk management requirements.

What does your background look like?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management or an equivalent field.
  • Understanding of power systems and grids, experience in renewable technology and wind farm connections.
  • Experience securing agreement for multi-disciplinary commercial contracts.
  • Ability to manage complex technical and commercial issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and business acumen.
  • Good knowledge of converter connected technology.
