ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:

St Mary's Flexible School is a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition. There are 22 Flexible Schools (FS) throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and FS respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.

The purpose of a Flexible School's is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness.

PRIMARY ROLE PURPOSE:

Each Flexi School has a Head of Campus who has delegated responsibility from the Area Principal and Regional Director for the day-to-day management and leadership of the campus. The Head of Campus provides leadership and supervision to staff and the young people of the community, working collaboratively with the Area Principal, Regional Support Team members and other EREA Flexi Schools personnel as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The duties and responsibilities are based on a strengths-based framework from the five aspects of school leadership: Identity, Educational, Relational, Administrative and Community.

Responsibility for the day-to-day operations and leadership of the school with a focus on curriculum under the direction of the Head of Campus.

ABOUT YOU:

• Capacity to lead a Flexi School culture that maintains fidelity to operation by principals
(Respect, Safe and Legal, Participation and Honesty) through a Common Ground approach;

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills that support a strong community focus both within and external
to the school

• Demonstrated capacity to provide leadership in trauma informed practice and wellbeing support
that ensures that young people can achieve positive social outcomes and re- engagement in learning;

• Capacity to provide leadership in learning and pedagogy supporting the achievement of quality
learning outcomes for all young people;

• Relevant teaching qualifications and have (or be prepared to undertake) postgraduate
qualifications in one of the following areas: Education, Social Services, Educational Leadership,
or Theology;

• Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a teacher in the state in which the school is
located & the ability to hold a working with children check and drivers licence
