About the Role

APD Engineering undertakes technically complex projects that contributes positive outcomes for the future. This role delivers successful results for protection designs.

Your key duties will include but will not be limited to: 

  • Deliver protection designs for substations up to 500kV, including calculations, reports, relay settings files and configurations
  • Peer review designs undertaken by others
  • Perform FAT's & SAT's using protection relay test sets
  • Contribute to project tender documents
  • Provide technical and construction/commissioning support
  • Laise with clients as the technical SME
  • Preparation of substation secondary designs where required
  • Mentor and train junior engineers

Requirements 

  • CPEng desirable, or eligibility to obtain within 6 months
  • Minimum 5 years (Senior) / 10 years (Principal) related experience
  • Experience working with power utilities desirable
  • Demonstrated experience working on Western Power and/or TransGrid projects will be highly advantageous
  • Knowledge and understanding of protection fundamentals, protection schemes, and IEC61850
  • Experience in fault studies using power system modelling software, e.g. Digsilent, PSSE, ETAP
  • Experience in relay configuration software, e.g. SEL Acselerator, Digsi, etc.
  • Experience in substation secondary designs for substations up to 500kV desirable
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet agreed deadlines
