Job Description

Management Information Analysis 40%

  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) for collection and recovery activities. This includes extraction and analysis of data from data warehouse or other information systems to prepare performance reports for management.
  • Analyse customer data to identify trends and patterns related to delinquencies and payment behaviours, to support collection and recovery activities.
  • Develop ad-hoc reports and data dashboards to support specific inquiries and requests from Retail Collections & Recoveries team. This includes provision of MI on an ongoing basis as and when requested by group and the local team.
  • Report and communicate data findings clearly and concisely to key stakeholder in the business. This includes preparation/update of presentation decks for Risk, consolidating MI, strategy and performance data (e.g. assist in preparation of Portfolio Quality Report (PQR)).
  • Partner with other analysts and business team to ensure data accuracy, completeness and consistency.
  • Recommend data driven strategies and process improvements to optimise collection and recovery activities.
  • Support data projects within the Risk team to ensure successful implementation.
  • Attend to meetings and conference calls for country and regional management.

  • Work closely with the team members to achieve business performance targets.
  • Constantly seek to improve ways of working by challenging the status quo and support an empowering climate within the team, sharing knowledge, experience, best practice and providing constructive feedback as required.
  • Provide cover for other team members as required.
  • Support and adopt the implementation of change initiatives.
  • Participate in local events to support local needs, develop individual and team skills and raise the Absa profile in the local community.

Communication 10%

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data findings in an understandable manner.
  • Active participation in meetings and in team talks.

Control 10%

  • Championing potential risks reported in the department and ensuring proper controls in place.
  • Ensuring data accuracy and integrity to mitigate errors.
  • Address audit/rigour/assurance findings/comments to ensure control environment remains “green/satisfactory”.

Quality Assurance 30%

  • Perform quality assurance on collection and recoveries portfolio, in line with quality assurance processes.
  • Work closely with the Retail Collections & Recoveries team to improve quality of recovery actions.
  • Keep abreast of all underwriting, product and system changes to ensure proper quality assessments by using the latest assessment criteria.
  • Monitor collections and client interaction to ensure business is conducted in a manner with all applicable, regulations, group policies and procedures.
  • Remain well informed of all changes to policies, processes and procedures that are being implemented for the area and ensure that processes to incorporate the changes on the effective date.
  • Complete all necessary audit check list, snap check list, control assessment sheets and report timely.
  • Ensure availability of relevant quality assurance reports daily for review to ensure that they have status updates on total call evaluation.
  • Ensure all records are saved and maintained as evidence for future reporting and audit requirements.
