Production, Planning & Scheduling (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics)

Facilitate efficient and timely delivery of the production plan, communicating with abattoir, cold stores, QA Manager and sales team, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements. 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Proactively develop detailed knowledge of product specifications, critical logistics factors and the sales process to guide decision making in production planning.
  • Develop and maintain monthly and quarterly inventory forecast models based on sales forecasts. 
  • Maintain accurate product specifications within the production plan, ensuring all production runs are accurately planned. 
  • Keep up to date with current legislation and any changes to market access requirements for all sales markets.
  • Keep up to date with changes to AusMeat and MSA requirements and relevant legislation. 
  • Participate in AusMeat, MSA and NPE audits as required.
  • Manage cold storage inventory levels to ensure stock rotation on a FIFO basis. Proactively communicate with Sales Team on order fulfilment levels and logistics factors. 
  • Process purchase orders and customer sales orders.
  • Manage domestic load outs and logistics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Preferably will have experience in a production planning role. 
  • Technical knowledge of premium beef production, specifically Wagyu and long-fed grain products will be advantageous. 
  • Ability to make plans and decisions with incomplete information, presenting options to senior management to endorse.
  • Ability to work independently as required and be highly proactive.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain inventory levels and order fulfilment time frames, understanding of cold storage and export loading operations an advantage. 
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of beef production (preferably Wagyu and/or premium beef), including cuts and yield analysis. 
  • Experience planning materials requirements to meet production needs into the future, managing competing lead times’ and supplier/delivery constraint and production requirements.

Education and Experience – Required:

  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent project and time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines. 
  • Excellent knowledge of export market requirements for beef and translation of these to the boning room.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills; knowledge/comprehension of abattoir systems an advantage 

Education and Experience – Desired

  • Exposure to and understand of lot feeding operations, both long and short fed. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Navision) and BSM. 
  • Demand planning experience. 

Reporting Relationships

  • Directly reporting to – General Manager, Sales & Marketing
  • Take direction from executive team where appropriate.
  • Exposure to operational, commercial, technical and strategic aspects of the business. 
  • Perform tasks within all areas of the business. 
  • Salary for this position p.a. is based on experience + superannuation at government prescribed levels paid fortnightly.
  • 5 weeks’ annual leave.
  • Laptop computer and other necessary IT equipment. Support provided for home office equipment. 
  • All reasonably necessary travelling and accommodation expenses required to carry out the role.
  • Work related mobile phone and call/data expenses.
